The main reason I went on this 30 Day Detox is to get my body back into its Alkaline state, as I felt I was out of kilter due to my health and medications...lack of exercise (wasn't allowed to for the last 6 months) but I am now back exercising which makes me feel and look so much better!
Here is an excerpt from my Best-Selling book Beautiful You about anti-ageing foods as it will help you understand why it is imperative that we have our body in an alkaline sate if we wish to look and feel younger!
Anti-Ageing Foods
Pro-Inflammatory Foods
The food in your cupboard plays a big part in making you look and feel years younger, with wrinkle-free skin and strong healthy body.
The first thing is to stay away from pro-inflammatory foods, which accelerate the aging process. Pro-inflammatory foods are sugar and foods that quickly convert to sugar in the bloodstream, such as potatoes, bread, pastries, juice, chips and rice crackers. Sugar causes inflammation on a cellular level, resulting in skin-that sags and accelerates aging.
Acidic versus Alkaline
The second step is to get your body into an alkaline state, as an overly acidic diet and lifestyle is one of the core causes of diseases and illnesses now common in the Western world.
It is important to create the correct acid/alkaline balance within your body in order for the metabolic processes to function properly. There are myriad factors that influence your acid/alkaline balance: things such as your emotional and mental state, your level of physical exercise and to a very significant degree, your diet and the foods you consume on a daily basis.
Acid Forming Foods
Acid forming foods are meat, dairy products, chocolate, bread, alcohol, carbonated drinks, rice, white sugar, wheat flour, citrus, tea and coffee.
Anti-Ageing Foods
Anti-ageing foods are high in antioxidants and by incorporating them into your daily diet, wrinkles and sagging skin will be visibly reduced. These are the same foods that are alkaline.
Fresh fruit and vegetables, especially those that are very deeply coloured are considered to be highly beneficial for the cells of the body.
Is Your Body Turning to Rust?
Ironically, the same air that gives us life is what causes metal to rust, fruit to turn brown and our bodies’ cells to break down and age.
Through a series of chemical changes, oxygen molecules in our bodies lose electrons, making them unstable. These unstable molecules are called free radicals.
The free radicals are the bad guys in the war against aging prematurely. In an attempt to stabilize themselves, these free radicals steal electrons from your healthy cells throughout your entire body. Every time they do this, they damage another healthy molecule, thus creating more free radicals (the bad guys), thus aging you inside and out.
Antioxidants Keep You Young!
To keep this destructive aging process under control, nature creates an enormous arsenal of antioxidants. Which are compounds in foods that halt free radicals from doing harm.
Antioxidants are the good guys and are present in those foods that contain vitamins A, C and E, (the very same vitamins essential in anti-ageing skincare such as Arbonne’s RE9 ADVANCED) as well as beta-carotene and flavonoids.
Fish oil which contains manganese and selenium, is also considered to be anti-aging.
